Scenario-Based Questions

Scenario 1: A client says, “Just tell me exactly what to buy — I don’t want to think about it.”

How would you respond in a way that honors the coaching model?

Scenario 2: During a visit, a client asks you to take out a wall to open up the kitchen.

What should you do, and why?

Scenario 3: A café owner wants a warm, inviting space but has a small budget.

How would you begin helping this commercial client?

Show sample answers
  1. Reassure the client, then offer two or three strong options with the trade-offs explained, and let them make the final pick. This keeps them in control and builds confidence while still giving clear guidance.

  2. Explain kindly that removing a wall is beyond a coach’s scope and could be unsafe. Refer them to a licensed contractor for the wall, and offer to coach the colors, lighting, and layout once it is open.

  3. Ask what they want customers to feel and do in the space, then focus on high-impact, low-cost changes — lighting, layout, and brand-fitting decor — while staying within the budget.
